host family
yay for the harden family!! during my time up in vancouver, the USOC set us up with a terrific opportunity to stay at a home instead of having to spend upwards of 150/night or more in most cases at a hotel! it'll be a great chance to truly experience the city and learn about the area from a local family, not to mention save some money. my host family lives on the north shore of vancouver, only 5 miles from all of the vancouver olympic venues (i'm still going to try to get up to whistler on one of my off days!). deb and rob harden have three daughters, two that are older and out of the house so they generously offered their home to a couple of us during the games. there other daughter is in 11th grade and they also have a black lab named gillie! (for those of you that know my fondness with snl's gillie, i about died when i heard the pup's name ;) anyway, deb works at a hospital in vancouver and rob is an elementary teacher, i'm really looking forward to meeting them and the girls! they said they won't be able to do much during the games as they have to work, which is a bummer, but they said the city is all set and ready for the games to begin......
