pins!

pins at the olympics are a huge part of the games. they are a fairly inexpensive way to symbolize and commemorate the sport, year, sponsors, mascots, and all the countries represented at the games. i was lucky enough to receive one before i even get to vancouver! one of my good friends, julie schmitz, is the team coordinator at u.s. figure skating, she was also the person that initially got me the information about signing up to volunteer at the USA house! julie and i went to the U of M together and she's been working at figure skating for the last few years now. she designed this pin for the games and was so sweet to send me one to start my collection. i'm excited to see the other pins and hopefully get a few more :)

welcome + excitement

hey ya'll! i'm still down in texas for one more week and writing the first post for my 2010 vancouver winter olympic games blog! the games are coming up fast!! i'm super excited to go to vancouver, bc and my first trip to canada :) i'll be heading up there 10 feb - 1 march and i've been fortunate enough to be accepted by the united states olympic committee (USOC) to volunteer at the USA house for the entirety of the games. the USA house is the USOC's business and hospitality center at the olympic games and a place for key constituents to gather. for example some of these special people include international olympic committee members, olympians, sponsors, VIPs, suppliers, donors, guests, etc. my role at the house is to serve as a liaison for all of our guests to assist with whatever they might need while they visit the house. this could range from registration, the retail store, or special events. i already have my schedule and will be fairly busy, but i will get time off to go to events and tour the city...i can't wait! the games are just 21 short days away...i look forward to writing more soon and sharing this experience with you all!! xoxo
